Mr. Jiggles Fish4Dogs Journey

“Mr. Jiggles came to Music City Animal Rescue thru another local TN rescue.  We were doing an event together and "Uno" which was his original name - you can guess why, was being fostered by my best friend from that rescue.  He had just been neutered and had quite a few teeth removed 2 days before and was still not at his best.   He came into the event, my mom saw him and they were literally inseparable from that moment on.  The photo (left) of him and my mom was the first day.  They sat in a recliner together for the whole event...never moved.

"We usually feed separately because Happy (my mom’s other foster dog) was eating Fish4Dogs but the others were not.  Mr. Jiggles began just having a fit to get to Happy's food.  Barking and jumping etc...so we gave him a little."

We named him Mr. Jiggles and he began to travel with me and my mom to all sorts of events in several different states.  He went to Alabama and was on many television shows with me as well as the Southern Women's show.  We actually traveled to Alabama 2x's because he was such a hit with the talk shows.   We also did Better Nashville, Talk of the Town and the Southern Women's show here in Nashville and traveled to Texas for a couple of events.   Jiggles has always had teeth and mouth issues but was pretty healthy otherwise.  He followed my cooking for pets recipes a lot but as my mom got older she could no longer cook as much for him so he was supplemented with a lot of donated food - mostly dry.  Besides his inability to chew hard chunks, we noticed that he began to cough and choke a great deal.

A lot after eating, then you would see him stop, act like he was burping, then begin to cough.  He would also cough if he ran and got too hot.  He was slightly over-weight as well.   It was diagnosed that he has a narrowing esophagus that of course acts up when they run, get too hot, eat too much dry foods, have reflux etc...   We started feeding him again on my cooked recipes but he just seemed hungry all the time.  We usually feed separately because Happy (my mom’s other foster dog) was eating Fish4Dogs but the others were not.  Mr. Jiggles began just having a fit to get to Happy's food.  Barking and jumping etc...so we gave him a little.  He woofed it down - didn't choke and seemed more satisfied than before.  Mom began to give him just a little with his chicken and rice and it seems to have helped with several issues.  For one, he can, if not chew it, swallow it a little easier.  Maybe because the pieces are round and flat as opposed to chunks.  It is also good because he does not seem to have reflux issues.  He seems more full and satisfied when he has the Fish4Dogs.

On the days that my mom just does not feel like cooking anything, she has given Mr. Jiggles and now Happy because what one has, now the other thinks he is supposed to have...but they both get the Fish 4 Dogs moistened with a little warm water.  It makes a little gravy and allows both of them - since neither have very many teeth - to chew on something not quite as hard.   Other days, mom has been supplementing with some rice and chicken.

Since Fish4Dogs was so kind to offer extra food for Mr. Jiggles, now she does not have to worry about the supplement and only add warm water when she thinks they need it.

Mr. Jiggles is now around 12 or 13 years old and is still such a sweet little fellow.  He is crankier in his old age and doesn't move around as much or travel with me any longer but he still has a lot of good years and I'm so glad that the Fish4Dogs will be able to help him along the way.

Thanks to EVERYONE at Fish 4 Dogs.  WE LOVE YA!!!”
